Férias / Vacation

Esta semana passada estive de férias com a família. Algo que já estava há muito planeado e que se concretizou. Fomos algo à deriva pelo norte do país e parávamos onde queríamos. Começamos por ir a um sítio conhecido para almoçar e tivemos um bom almoço. E a seguir tratamos de arranjar onde dormir. A conselho da Sra. do restaurante, experimentamos um turismo rural que havia já ali ao pé.
Chegamos ao sítio mas, surpresa a nossa, apesar de termos uma piscina, os quartos cheiravam a mofo, e o aspecto em si não era grande coisa. E depois de uma noite mal passada (que parecia que tínhamos constantemente mosquitos em cima de nós) o meu irmão ficou com a mão parecia uma maçaneta :P
Além disso o dono daquele estabelecimento de requinte tinha um aspecto extremamente peculiar. A começar pela roupa toda branca, cabelo pintado de louro e todo puxado para trás. Além disso tinha também uma maneira muito máscula de falar (ou era o contrário?). Enfim.
Bem, como o sítio era de qualidade decidimos mudar de ares e fomos para um sítio bem melhor, desta feita, Melgaço, para o hotel Monte Prado. O sítio era conhecido e apesar de inicialmente estarmos a pensar ir para outros poisos ficamos lá até ao fim da semana.
Utilizamos um dos dias para ir passear para o parque da Peneda-Gerês e fomos mesmo para a fronteira com Espanha, para o lugar de A-do-Freire. O três caminhantes (eu, o meu irmão e o meu pai) fizeram uma voltinha de mais ou menos 10km que deu para abrir o apetite.
Os outros dias foram usados para algum descanso e relaxamento, mas como é mais que normal nas férias. Já se voltou ao trabalho :)

This last week I was on holidays with the family. Something that was planned for a long time has finally come to pass. So we went drifting through the country and would stop where we wanted. We started by going to a known place to have lunch. Afterwards we had to find a place to sleep. So we follow the advice of the lady from the restaurant and tried a place just near the restaurant.
We got to the place, but to our surprise, and even though we had a swimming pool, and as we normally say the rooms smelled of mildew. On top of that the rooms were very shabby. So after a badly slept night, (there was the feeling that there were mosquitoes on us all the time) my brother gained a doorknob sized hand. :P
Besides that the owner was quite a character. All dressed in white, with blonde painted hair and all pulled back, and also with a very manly way to speak (or the opposite, I can't remember).
But as the quality was very good we decided to go somewhere else. This time we went to Melgaço, to the Monte Prado hotel. The place was known and even though we had in mind to visit other places we ended up by staying there until the end of the week.
We used one of the days to go trekking to the Peneda-Geres national park. We went to a place just near the border, to a place known as A-do-Freire. The three trekkers (me, my brother and my father) went for a stroll of around 10km that was quite helpful to open the appetite.
The next days were used for some rest and relaxation. And as is normal in holydays time was gone with the wind. Now, back to work! :)
