Inundação/Flood

Esta sexta passada aconteceu o que não estava à espera. Pelas 16h recebi um telefonema da minha mãe que me informou que deixamos de ter uma cave e passávamos a ter uma piscina.
Pode-se que dado o dilúvio que estava fora das paredes do trabalho foi uma situação que enfim, aconteceu. Saí a correr do trabalho, e até tive alguma dificuldade a chegar a casa dado que a avenida que costumo tomar ter, num determinado troço, uma piscina com mais de 50cm de profundidade.
Chegado a casa deparei-me com uma cave aguada. Felizmente a água já estava a descer e fiquei com os meus pais, durante várias horas a limpar a água e afins.
O pior foi o computador e o sistema de cinema em casa que estiveram com água.
Mas felizmente, e graças aos desumidificadores cedidos pela Cristina e pelo Tiago, a única coisa que se estragou foi o transformador da impressora.
Tirei umas fotos mas o meu leitor de cartões é a minha impressora, e como está inoperacional ainda não posso por aqui o aspecto do sucedido. Mas depois mostro-vos.
Ah e um especial obrigado ao Tiago, Cristina, Sílvia e Ché Manel pela comparência, embora tenha sido relativamente tardia. ;)

Last Friday something unexpected happened. Around 4p.m. I got a call from my mother. She informed me that we no longer had a basement. We now had a swimming pool.
You can say that it was understandable looking at the immense storm outside the office walls. I got out work and even had some difficulty getting home. The problem was a 50cm deep swimming pool in the avenue I normally take to get home.
When I got there I saw a watered basement. Fortunately the water was lowering and I had to stay, with my parents, cleaning the water for several hours.
Worst of all was my computer and home cinema that had a close encounter with the invading water. Nevertheless, and thanks to the dehumidifiers of Tiago and Cristina, the only thing that was not operational was the printer ac transformer.
I even took some photos. But my card reader is my printer, so until it’s operational again I can’t show you the spectacle, yet.
Oh and a special thanks to Tiago, Cristina, Sílvia and Ché Manel for showing up. Even though it was a little late. ;)

Regoufe

Este Sábado fui para outra terra de ninguém. Desta feita para Regoufe, que fica “perto” de Arouca. O motivo foi outro passeio, o qual contou com a estreia da minha caixa estanque.

O caminho para lá chegar foi algo complicado, isto porque o dinheiro do estado só deu para fazer rotundas e já não chegou para por a respectiva sinalização. No entanto chegados ao destino lá fizemos o trajecto que foi desde Regoufe até à aldeia abandonada de Drave.
Pelo caminho ainda vimos outro grupo que também passeava (embora sem grande equipamento). Houve até um membro desse dito grupo que achou na sua sapiência que eu estava a medir a qualidade da água enquanto tirava fotos debaixo de água. Gente da cidade concerteza! Mas aqui ficam mais algumas fotos para verem. E mais aparecerão no blog do MSN.

This Saturday I went to another no mans land. This time to Regoufe, that’s “near” Arouca. The reason was another trekking day, which had the presence of my waterproof case.

The road to get there was somewhat complicated, due to the state’s money being solely spent in roundabouts. Therefore there was not enough money for signals. Even so we manage to get there. The path was from Regoufe to the abandoned village of Drave.
On our way we even crossed paths with another group (though they were really ill equipped). There was even a man that in is wise posture said I was measuring the quality of the water (while I was taking underwater photos). City folks for sure! But here are some photos for you to see. And more will show up in my MSN Blog.

Wii for All

Já algumas pessoas devem saber. No entanto fica aqui o aviso que em breve vai sair a nova consola da Nintendo. Ao contrário das outras que têm saído esta vai ter como base uma maior interacção com os jogos. E para verem o que quero dizer vejam o seguinte vídeo.

Some people might already know. Even so I’ll leave the warning that soon the new Nintendo console is coming out. And unlike the others that are being released this one will have more interaction between the games. And so that you see what I mean watch this video.

Vidente / Fortune Teller

Há coisas fantásticas não há?
Bem hoje vi algo que me despertou a curiosidade e posteriormente permitiu-me dar umas valentes gargalhadas.
Vi este papel preso num para brisas de um carro o qual podem ver em baixo.

P.S. – E o pior é que deve haver gente a gastar dinheiro com estas coisas

Well, today I saw something that caught my attention. And allowed me to laugh a lot.
I saw this paper on a windshield as you can se in the image.

Well because it’s not in English it might be difficult to understand. But its an advertisement to a fortune teller.

P.S. – And worst of all is that there are people that spend money on these things.

Doenças / Diseases

Os avanços tecnológicos têm sido imensos. Já vamos ao espaço, contactamos com qualquer parte do mundo em instantes e fazemos imensas descobertas na área da saúde.
Ora o meu ponto vai mesmo para essa zona.
Já curamos imensas doenças. Temos vacinas para outras tantas. Até, como vi outro dia nas notícias, já temos vacinas para certos tipos de cancros. Ora no meio de tanto progresso será que ninguém se lembrou de curar de vez a gripe. Todos os anos é a mesma coisa. Começa o tempo de frio, o corpo está cansado e lá está. Vamos para a cama porque o dito vírus não perdoa. E mesmo a vacina que actualmente se costuma dar não eficácia por ai além, e tem de se tomar todos os anos.
Portanto fica aqui o apelo. Cientistas deixem lá a pesquisa para a melancia sem sementes… invistam o vosso tempo a pesquisar uma vacina para a gripe que se tome uma vez e não crie mais chatices!
Mas isto são apenas pensamentos de alguém que está com a gripe.

Technologies advances have been many. We go to space, contact any part of the world in an instant. And we even do lots of discoveries in health. Well my thoughts go to that particular area. We’ve cured lots of diseases, and as I even saw the other day, we even managed to come up with a vaccine to prevent some types of cancer. Well, in the middle of so many discoveries has no one remembered to invent a cure for the flu? Every year is the same thing. Cold weather starts coming, the body is tired and there it is. We go to bed because the so called virus is not forgiving. Even the vaccine that we have today is not that effective, and you have to take it every year.
So my request is this. Scientists, quit working on the seedless watermelon... invest your time in coming up with a vaccine for the flu. One that you take once and that’s it!
But these are only the thoughts of someone with the flu.
