Torneio Coimbra 2006 / Coimbra Tour 2006

Este fim-de-semana fui a Coimbra. Tive um torneio de Kendo, o 3º em que participei e acho que estou a melhorar. No entanto tenho muito pela frente. Este torneio teve a peculiaridade de ser misto. Mas como as mulheres que treinam connosco não se acanham foi um bom torneio.
Na minha poll éramos 3 e acabei por passar em 1º, no entanto para isso foi preciso fazer 2 rondas de combates porque os 1ºs não deram em nada.
Depois vieram os 16-avos. No entanto a coisa não correu muito bem e acabei por me ficar por ai. Mas para o próximo (que é em Lisboa) estou mentalizado para me portar melhor e apontar para os quartos de final. Mas a ver vamos. Aqui fica uma imagem de eu a atacar a Diana (mas sem muito sucesso, hi hi). Mas mais fotos podem ver o blog do MSN, embora não estejam muito boas.

This weekend I went to Coimbra. I had a Kendo tournament, it was the third I participated in, and I think I’m getting better. This tournament had the peculiarity of having men and women fighting alongside. But as the women we train with aren’t shy it was a good competition.
In my poll we were 3 and I ended up passing in first place. Even so it was needed to make a second round of fights because the first ones were all a draw.
Afterwards came the 16ths-finals. The problem was that the fight didn’t go very well and I ended up staying there. Even so the next tournament (in Lisbon) I’m aiming to the quarter-finals. But we’ll see. Here is an image of me attacking Diana (without much success, hi hi). But there are more photos in my MSN blog, even though they’re not very well.

Dia na praia / Day at the beach

Depois de um dia na praia encontrei uma personagem que achei que deveria ser recordada. Era um indivíduo que estava com uma tanga muito peculiar. Mas como as imagens falam melhor que as palavras, aqui está ele.

After a day at the beach I found a character that I thought that should be remembered. It was a individual that was with a peculiar thong. But as pictures talk better than words, here he is.

Dentes / Teeth

Estes dias têm sido algo penosos uma vez que tenho dores graças aos dentes do siso. As dores são algumas mas a palavra de ordem é aguentar. Isto há de passar, se não é necessário arrancar os malandros. Bem, se quiserem deixar a vossa palavra de apreço são sempre bem-vindos. Eh eh.

These days have somewhat hard due to the pain I’ve been feeling thanks to my teeth (those last ones that only appear in your twenties…). The pain is there but the idea is to hold on. This will pass, if not I’ll have to pull the thugs out. Well, if you want to leave a word of support you’re welcome. Eh eh.

Curiusidades / Curiosities

Enquanto lia as minhas notícias descobri um artigo curioso. Um jovem que jogava PC descasadamente em casa quase que não sobrevia à facanha depois de uma bala de uma Magnum raspar a cabeça dele. Isto tudo depois do vizinho acidentalmente disparar a dita arma enquanto estava no seu quarto de banho...

While I read my news I found a curious article. A young man, while relaxed playing PC in his house was almost killed by the feat. All of this after having a Magnun bullet fly nearby his head. His neighbor accidentally fired the gun while in his bathroom...

Incêndio / Fire

Apesar de estar em formação em Aveiro o meu local de trabalho é no Porto. Parece que ao princípio da tarde quem queria trabalhar foi obrigado a não o fazer devido a um incêndio. Acho que não foi nada de grave mas levou a toda a empresa a fazer uma pausa forçada. É caso para dizer que alguém queria mesmo descansar durante a tarde.

Even though I’m having formation in Aveiro, my work place is in Porto. It seams that in the beginning of the afternoon those who wished to work where forced not to due to a fire broking out (in portuguese). It seams it was nothing serious but it made the entire company having a forced brake. It’s a situation that someone really wanted to rest during the afternoon.

FITA

Quarta dia 10 foi o dia do FITA. Um dos festivais de tunas da cidade do Porto. Como de costume fui com a tuna actuar e tenho a dizer que foi um espectáculo magnífico. O coliseu estava cheio e todos puxavam por nós. E apesar de termos passado o tempo regulamentar isso não impediu que a noite fosse memorável.
Como fomos logo dos primeiros a actuar fomos logo a seguir jantar enquanto o festival decorria. O jantar foi, dado o ambiente festivo, desgastante. Mas no bom sentido...

Wednesday, March 10th, was the day of FITA. One of the “tuna” festivals of Porto city. As usual I went with y “Tuna” and I have to say it was a magnificent performance. The coliseum was full and everybody was supporting us. Even though we took longer than the allowed time. It didn’t prevent it from being a memorable night.
As we were the first to perform, we went right away to have dinner. The dinner, given the joyful atmosphere, was overwhelming. But in a good way...

Insignias / Insignia

Este domingo foi o dia da imposição das insígnias. Fui almoçar com a Susana e via a cartolar. E para além de ir ver a Susana também fui impor gente.:D Entre eles o meu novo afilhado, o Ricardo. Foi um dia longo mas esta semana ainda não acabou.

This Sunday was the day of insignia imposing (what a wacky translation). I had lunch with Susana and saw her receiving her... “hat” (that means she has finished her degree). I also imposed some other people. Among them, my new godson, Ricardo. It was a long day but this week hasn’t ended yet.

Serenata / Serenade

Esta semana as actividades são mais que muitas. Apesar de não ter tido muito tempo vou ver se vou reportando o que se vai passando nesta semana da Queima, que apesar de já não ser “para mim” (adeus vida universitária) ainda é algo na qual participo. Aqui ficam alguns momentos da serenata na qual também cantei...

This week there have been a lot of activities. Even though I haven’t much time I’ll try to report what has been going on during this week of “Queima” (one week of academic parties). And even though it’s not directly for me (goodbye college life) I still participate in it. Here are some moments form the serenade that I participated in...

Almoço/Lunch

O dia de hoje teve um almoço diferente. Os amigos foram lá a casa almoçar. Para os que não puderam (o Pica e a Cristina) aqui ficam umas fotos. Ah, os outros não se sintam mal mas não convidei a malta de Madrid/Lisboa. Mas acho que percebem porquê.

Today I had a diferent lunch. The friends went to my place to have lunch. For those that couldn’t make it here are some photos. Ah, the others don’t need to feel bad. I didn’t invite the guys from Lisbon/Madrid. But I think you can understand why.

Novas peças / New parts

Esta segunda-feira recebi umas novas peças para o meu PC. Um Athlon X2 3800+ e um mega dissipador para manter o menino fresco. Tratei de limpar primeiro o computador com um compressor de ar e lá instalei tudo. Agora ainda não tive muito tempo para testar tudo, mas o desempenho promete!

This Monday I received some new parts for my PC. An Athlon X2 3800+ and a mega cooler to keep the boy cool. I cleaned the computer with an air compressor and I installed everything. I still haven’t got much time to test everything, but the performance is promising!

Grande fim-de-semana / Big weekend

Este fim-de-semana foi passado com a Susana na pseudo viagem de finalistas dela. Foi um grupo de dimensão considerável para a Serra da Estrela para realizar actividades (muitas). A viagem começou com algum atraso, como seria de esperar, mas chagamos bem a tempo para aproveitar tudo o que o fim-de-semana tinha para nós.
O local onde ficamos foi a quinta do Esterelo (http://www.quintadocrestelo.pt/). Ficamos numas camaratas mas tendo em conta as refeições e actividades que tivemos foi muito barato os dias lá passados.
No entanto, e como é normal, os 3 dias passaram a correr e ontem já retornamos para casa (é verdade já vos disse que havia uma máquina de finos cá fora durante os 3 dias para a garganta não ficar seca?). Mas vou por mais fotos no outro blog :D

This last weekend was spent with Susana in her pseudo graduation trip. With a group of considerable dimension we went to “Estrela” and did some activities (lot’s of them). The trip started with some delay, as it would be expected, but we managed to get there in time in order to enjoy everything the weekend had to offer.
The place where we stayed was the Estrelo resort (http://www.quintadocrestelo.pt/). We had a big room and having in mind the meals and the activities we had it was very cheap the days that were spent there.
Even so, and as usual, the 3 days went by in a flash and yesterday we returned home (have I mentioned that there was a free beer machine so that our throats wouldn’t dry?). But I’ll put some more photos in the other blog. :D

Tanto trabalho / So much work

Ultimamente tem sido algo difícil para escrever aqui no blog. Tenho tido muitas actuações e o trabalho tem apertado bastante e a consequência é que tenho escrito muito pouco. Mas para saberem o que tenho feito com a tuna podem visitar o site e ver o que se têm feito (tenho é de actualizar as notícias, hi hi).

Para o futuro próximo, ou seja, amanhã pelas 7 da manhã vou passar o fim-de-semana prolongado na Serra da Estrela em actividades radicais. E como vão ser uns dias promissores vou tirar fotos (bastantes) e depois partilho aqui as minhas actividades.
Mas como o trabalho é muito vou ser produtivo que o tempo não estica!

Lately it’s been somewhat difficult to write in my blog. I’ve had quite a lot of shows and work has been quite a lot, therefore there has been a lack of writing. But so that you know what I’ve been doing with the “tuna” you can visit it’s site (I just have to keep the news updated, hi hi)

In the near future, that is tomorrow ah 7 a.m. I go and spend the weekend at “Estrela” (a high mountain of Portugal) doing some radical activities. And as it will be some promising days I’ll take photos (a lot) and share them.
But as work is a lot and time doesn’t stretch I’ll go on and be productive.

Páscoa / Easter

Ultimamente não tenho passado muito por aqui. O trabalho tem apertado bastante e o tempo livre escasseia. No entanto não partilhei aqui a viagem que tive com a tuna no fim-de-semana de 8 e 9 em Viana do Castelo. Foi para participar no Lethes.
Aproveitei que Viana não é longe do Porto e levei a família para ver a actuação. O teatro onde actuamos era muito castiço e foi uma actuação boa. O único problema foi o facto de ter de voltar para o Porto de carro e como tal não pude beber tudo o que queria.
Estes dias houve também as férias da Páscoa mas estas foram passadas a descansar e carregar baterias (embora acho que não fui muito bem sucedido nesse campo).

Lately I haven’t been around that much. Work has been intense and free time is not abundant. Even so I haven’t shared the trip I had with my “tuna” in the weekend of April 8th/9th in Viana do Castelo. We went to participate in Lethes.
I took the opportunity that Viana is not that far from Porto to take my family with me. The theater we performed in was really nice and the performance was also good. The only problem was the fact that I had to return to Porto by car. So I couldn’t drink what I wanted.
These days there was also Easter holydays witch were spent resting and recharging batteries (despite the fact I think I wasn’t very successful with that).

Torneio de kendo do porto 2006 / Porto kendo tournament 2006

No fim-de-semana de 1 de Abril tive um torneio de kendo aqui no Porto. Foi o meu segundo torneio de kendo e desta vez estava pronto a dar mais ainda do que vez anterior.
Acabei por não ficar muito mal na minha pool, também tive alguma sorte e acabei por ir aos oitavos de final.
No entanto o combate dos oitavos deparei-me com o kendoca que ganhou o torneio, logo não tive muitas hipóteses. Bem resta-me continuar a treinar para ficar melhor classificado no próximo torneio.



In the weekend of April 1st I had a kendo tournament here in Porto. It was my second kendo tournament and this time I was ready to be better than last time.
I ended up not being bad positioned in my pool, and with some luck I ended up getting to the eighth finals.
Even so in that fight I had against me the guy that ended up winning the tournament so I didn’t had any chance. Now all that’s left is for me to keep training and hope to be in a better position next tournament.

Tagides 2006

E no fim-de-semana de 25 e 26 de Março teve a minha ida a Lisboa com a tuna. Fomos lá participar no Tágides 2006. Já tínhamos participado no ano passado e este ano estivemos outra vez presentes. A viagem para lá foi demorada. Mas também ir para Lisboa de camioneta é sempre demorado. Na sexta à noite divertimo-nos bastante e no sábado lá actuamos. O festival tinha a concurso só tunas espanholas ... e nós. Mas foi uma grande actuação.
No final ganhamos vários prémios. Melhor pandeireta, melhor instrumental, melhor serenata (até fui eu que cantei e tudo, hi hi) e por fim a melhor tuna.
Pode-se dizer que com tudo foi um grande fim-de-semana. Até falamos para a televisão mas acho que a transmissão disso passou-me um bocado ao lado.
Finalmente viemos para o Porto. E essa viagem é que nunca mais acabava. Ao menos deu para dormir um para tentar recuperar as horas de sono que estiveram em falta.

In the weekend of March 25 and 26 I went to Lisbon with my “Tuna”. We went to participate in “Tagides 2006”. We already participated last year and this year we were already present. The trip was long. But also going to Lisbon by bus is always a pain. Friday we had lots of fun and Saturday we performed. The festival itself only had Spanish “tunas” participation ... and us. But it was a great performance.
In the end we got some prizes. Best “pandeireta”, best instrumental, best serenade (that had my singing solo) and best “tuna”. We even spoke to television, but the broadcast just went by me and I didn’t see it.
Finally we returned to Oporto. This trip was endless, but it gave me the opportunity to sleep and catch up to the lack of it.
